Kathak Dance

Mridula, a senior disciple of Gurus Smt. Nirupama Rajendra and Shri T D Rajendra, Directors of Abhinava Dance Company, Bangalore, has been intensively training in Bharatanatyam and Kathak for the last 14 years. She did her solo debut in Kathak in 2002 which won rave reviews and appreciation from the connoisseurs and art lovers. As an integral member of Abhinava, she has traveled to Switzerland, UAE, USA,UK, Reunion Islands and a few African countries.

She is a graded artist of Doordarshan, Bangalore and has given several performances for Indian Government and Private Television channels.Mridula has performed for various prestigious festivals in India and her work experience includes educational work in various schools in India and special choreography sessions for the NGOs. She was invited by Chitraleka Dance Co. UK in the year 2003 and 2004 for extensive performances and workshops which were conducted in 15 Britain and South Asian schools.

Last year she was invited by the World Youth Chamber, Italy in the capacity of a Kathak dancer to do a collaborative work with the western orchestra. The shows were premiered in Rome and Algiers and won a lot of appreciation in both the places. She is on the teaching faculty of Abhinava and believes in sharing the joy and aesthetic beauty of classical dance with the students through the path of teaching.
